Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The following are questions our customers frequently ask. They are provided here to help keep you informed about the products and services of Phobits and how we interact with you, the customer.

Online Safety

If a child in my classroom appears to have posted to Phobits sexually explicit images of herself, is there someone at Phobits we can call to have her account turned off or keep those images from being seen??

Absolutely! Please see the Urgent Account Block page for instructions and more information. The account can immediately be blocked to prevent distribution and viewing of the offending content.

My child has somehow created an account on Phobits and I do not want him to have an account. He is using it to do things that are inappropriate for his age and it could get him into trouble. Is there a way close that account?

A parent can close the account of their child by going to the Close Child Account page and following the instructions posted there. You will need to provide proof of your parent/child relationship, but you will have two choices: Either close the account or take control of the account and keep it open. If you keep the account open, then by using parental controls you can help your child use the account appropriately. You will be able to monitor what your child uploads to Phobits and even control if the content is deleted before being viewed by anyone else.

I am note sure, but I saw some images that were linked to a Phobits account that appeared to be images of human trafficking. It was very disturbing. I could be wrong, but how do I let someone know so maybe they can check it out? It may be nothing but I feel like I should tell someone.

You should tell someone and that someone is us and law enforcement. Please see the Suspicious Activity page for reporting such suspicious activity. You do not need to be right in your suspicions to make a report. It is simple enough to check on your concerns, and, if you are right, important enough that we do check out your concerns.
For all emergent situations where someone’s life may be in danger, call 911 immediately. Do not delay.

My Privacy

Is my personal information safe?

Yes! Phobits does not give, sell, or provide your personal information to anyone. Phobits makes no money, and gains no value in any way, by giving your information to anyone.
Please see our Privacy Policy for more information.

My Account

I lost my mobile phone and I was signed in. I think someone could get into my phone and access my Phobits account.

No worries. Sign in, then sign out after selecting 'Sign out of all computers everywhere'. This will cause your mobile phone to sign out if the person with your phone tries to use your Phobits account.

If I close my account do I forever lose my account name? I would like to close my account for a short while but I would hate to lose my account name. Are closed account names reserved for any length of time?

Yes, closed account names are reserved for one year after they are no longer used. This allows account holders to resubscribe and keep their old account names, but it also allows the content to be restored. When you close your account, your content is also kept for a period of one year unless you select to delete your content immediately. If your close you account then no content is shown to anyone after that time, but your content remains available for you to resume your account at a later time if you wish.

Deceased Account Owners

My parent has died and we would love to have all the images he posted on Phobits. Many of them have never been seen before and no one has a copy of them. Some of his work were just memes he created and posted over the years. Is there any way we can retrieve them, maybe download them somehow?

Yes, you can! Please see the Deceased Account page for more information, but the person who is managing his affairs can obtain access to his account to download the content. You can even leave a few images on his main page as a memorial to him for up to six months without any additional cost.

Account Names

I am not a subscriber to Phobits, but someone is using an account name that is the name of my company and is causing the company problems because they keep posting things and attributing them to the company. Is there any way to stop this person from using our company name??

Yes, there is a way to stop them from impersonating your company. Have an officer of the company look at the Account Name Violation page for more information for how to file an account name violation notice with Phobits. If we agree that your company name is protected or that the person is impersonating your company, the account name can be changed.

I have multiple accounts across social media and use different names and personalities on each social media website. Is there a way to link content from Phobits using different names so that I keep the same names and not use the same name for all websites?

Phobits allows an account to use more than one name. Depending on your subscription, you may be able to add account names without additional cost or you may need to purchase additional account names. Check your account information on the My Account page for information about how many account names your subscription provides you, how many names you have used, and any costs associated with obtaining additional names.

Child Safety

A child is using Phobits at our school to send inappropriate pictures of herself to people. Can we block her account until this is resolved?

Yes! You can go to the Urgent Account Block page and request Phobits immediately block that account. Phobits will block all access to the account including any content within that account until such time it is determined that the account does not contain inappropriate material.
