United States Domestic Policy
The services of Phobits are available only to customers that are United States citizens and citizens of no other country. Each user of Phobits must have a permanent address in the United States and may not permanently reside outside the United States.
The reason for this policy pertains to international law. For instance, the European Union (EU) enacted the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that no company is able to reliably obey, and the GDPR comes with a minimum $24 million dollar fine for disobeying. The EU does not have legal jurisdiction over the United States, but attempting to do business in the EU can become a risk.
The GDPR is not a law to help protect private information because it still allows the abuse of personal information so long as the company makes proper disclosures. The GDPR is an attempt for the EU to take over and control the Internet. Phobits believes the EU has created the GDPR as a regulation that cannot be obeyed due to conflicting and impossible requirements. The end result will be the EU claiming they tried to protect privacy with the GDPR, but that it failed, so the only recourse is for the EU government to take control of the Internet instead of private industry as we have today.
United States Citizens Only
To protect Phobits from abusive international regulations, Phobits requires all users to be United States citizens or lawful immigrants. This US Domestic policy does not pertain US citizens serving abroad in the US government or US military. Those individuals may use Phobits as they are protected by agreements.
Phobits does not provide your information to anyone. We don't sell it, give it away, or disclose it for profit. As an Internet user, you can demand companies protect your data, as Phobits does, and neither of us needs the abusive EU government to do that.
United States Location Only
Phobits maintains your data only in data centers within the Continental United States. We have own our computers, network, and facilities. We do not store, process, or send your data outside the United States. Phobits uses third-parties for SMS messaging, and those third-parties have US data centers for sending text messages to US phone numbers. If, for any reason, a US phone number is traveling outside the US, then any text message sent to that number from Phobits will of course be transmitted to the phone by communications outside the US, but Phobits does not knowingly use text messaging services that reside outside the US. Also be aware that Internet data of any website may be routed through overseas systems. This is the Internet's means of ensuring users receive data and is not an Internet configuration that Phobits or any company can control.
